Aging 101  Hands on Simulation CANCELED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE
Monday, March 16th 1:00- 2:30 (Care provided, but must RSVP)
Families, caregivers and professionals can reach a deeper level of understanding regarding patients living with dementia by spending some time “walking in their shoes.” Our simulation activities mimic what it is like to feel confused, frustrated, isolated and more. Participants will gain compassion and empathy.

These simulation exercises help participants understand age-related health challenges faced by the older people they serve. These include neuropathy, hearing loss, vision loss, language impairment, mobility and balance and cognitive decline. Join us as we share experiences with peers to help you process lessons learned in a meaningful, memorable way. What is it like to live every day as an older adult facing one or more common, age-related health challenges? The engaging, active learning simulation sessions are designed to provide insight into this important question. After the “hands-on” experiences we discuss how such challenges may impact elder’s autonomy and ability to live independently. Together, we consider solutions and supports currently available to elders and brainstorm other potentially successful interventions. Please RSVP by Jan. 20th.

For more information to host simulation or attend call 770-722-7641 or email info@alohatoaging.org

These programs are provided at our office located at
4608 Lower Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA 30068 unless otherwise noted.

All Programs are open to the community.

  • “I have a 91-year-old mother with Alzheimer’s in an assisted living facility near our home. I also have a 78-year-old husband who has been diagnosed with Frontal, Temporal Dementia and still lives at home. I have been attending a support group which I enjoy very much. • If we could choose anyone in the world to provide respite care for older loved ones (including those with dementia or early Alzheimer’s), it would be Dawn Reed. We have worked as volunteers for Dawn for 6 years. She develops daily programs which stimulate and entertain participants in her programs. She combines professional knowledge and management skills with kindness and compassion. She is the best.
