EAST COBB – Dementia 24/7 Simulation Training Class: Wednesday, October 4th, 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. This simulation training delivers insightful, impactful learning stations to guide on the challenges of aging persons living with dementia, making one more empathetic to individuals facing this growing issue. The 5 experiences to help one better understand their issues are: Confusion and Frustration, Stigma and Isolation, Communication and Language, Memory Loss and Forgetfulness, and Dependency and Despair. WEST COBB – Powerful Tools for Caregivers Class: Thursdays, October 12th – November 16th, 1:30p.m. – 3:00p.m. Powerful Tools for Caregivers is a self-care education program for family caregivers who are caring for an aging loved one. This class will provide you with tools and strategies to better handle the unique caregiver challenges you face.
The 6-week scripted curriculum has been shown to improve:
- Self-Care Behaviors: (e.g. increased exercise, relaxation and medical check-ups)
- Management of Emotions: (reduced guilt, anger, and depression)
- Self-Efficacy: (increased confidence in coping with caregiving demands)
- Use of Community Resources: (increased utilization of local services)

We will discuss common age-related health challenges and how they affect the aging population while participating in hands-on simulations. These include neuropathy, hearing loss, vision loss, language impairment, mobility and balance.

Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group: Monday, Oct 2nd, 10:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. Open to family members who are assisting an aging loved one both inside and outside of the home. Program held at Aloha to Aging, Inc. 4608 Lower Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA 30068. Free respite care is provided for your loved one while we meet, but must call in advance for care to 770-722-7641.
Aloha Day Club
We keep the Aloha spirit alive in our social day program for those 55 and older who need engaging activities outside of their residence (and have mainly stopped driving). Our week day program incorporates exercises, music and stimulating games and discussions into each session. Our fun-filled 3.5 hour program includes a morning snack and lunch. 10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Programs held at East Cobb: Mondays and Wednesdays West Cobb: Tuesdays.
